As discussed in the previous discussions, art can be very diverse: disegno esterno or disegno interno, documenting history or virtual realities, naturalistic, representational, abstract, stylized, or symbolic. And so, if all of these objects (paintings, sculptures, buildings, etc.) are classified under the heading “art,” then what do they have in common? The answer is the visual elements. Regardless of media or narrative, each artwork contains the elements of line, mass, value, color, space, and movement. Artists learn how to apply these elements during their training, academic or informal. We will discuss each element individually.
